Cornerstone Capital Campaign

A Message from Mark Pighini, Cornerstone Campaign Chair

It is with much excitement that Heritage launches our $6.3 million Cornerstone Capital Campaign!

As our President Matt Skinner so eloquently shares in our campaign video below, the faithfulness of God’s hand has led Heritage to this moment. This investment in our school builds a foundation for our students and families that will permanently place Heritage in our Midtown neighborhood while enabling us to educate and nurture students from preschool into young adulthood. Now, it is time for our collective response to God’s vision—we have the opportunity to serve as the founding Cornerstone for the future of Heritage Preparatory School.

The Cornerstone Capital Campaign will fund improvements and updates that will benefit our entire student body now and for years to come. Support for the Capital Campaign will enable Heritage to:

• Purchase the Rock Spring Presbyterian Church property ($3.8 million)
The 29,000 square foot facilities include the beautiful gothic sanctuary, 11 classrooms, and the new student activity center.

• Transform this space into our new Upper School to welcome students in August 2021 ($1.9 million)
Renovations include new paint and flooring, construction of a new science lab and library, and campus security.

• Renovate our current Morningside Baptist Church facilities to create a new Lower School ($600,000)
Renovations include gymnasium upgrades, restroom renovations, and the creation of a new outdoor nature classroom.

This is an exciting, legacy moment in our school’s history. I am proud to serve as Chair of the Cornerstone Capital Campaign, and I hope you will join me and my family as we respond to God’s vision for our school.

“God planted Heritage Preparatory School in a vital part of a great city and now He has provided an opportunity we didn’t even know was possible! The Rock Spring property is nothing short of amazing. God opened a door, Matt pursued, and now it’s our turn to help fulfill the dream of the Heritage High School in a remarkable setting. We have a chance to be a part of providing a unique and special place for our rising high school students to complete their classical education. It is our turn as the pioneers to establish the Cornerstone, the very foundation, that will shape the high school future for our children and for generations to come.”

How does the Capital Campaign differ from the Heritage Fund or other annual events? Do we give to both?
Heritage is deeply grateful for the generosity of our families to the Heritage Fund, annual Fall Auction, and Golf Challenge. We hope that our families will continue to prioritize the Heritage Fund in their annual giving, as well as consider making a special, one-time commitment to the capital campaign.

The Heritage Fund is the school’s primary fundraising initiative and serves as the foundation for every annual development plan. It is an annual, systematic fundraising campaign around which all other activities revolve. Gifts to the Heritage Fund are typically given from one’s income.

The Cornerstone Capital Campaign is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to invest in Heritage for the long-term future of the school. The purchase of the historic, beautiful Rock Spring Presbyterian Church campus will provide a permanent space for our growing enrollment throughout the school and accommodate plans to launch a high school in the fall of 2021. Additionally, the campaign will provide upgrades to our current campus at Morningside Baptist Church. Support for a capital campaign is often a gift of one’s assets (i.e. appreciated stock).

Great—We are ready! How can we give to the capital campaign?
You may support the campaign through a gift of cash, check, credit card, transfer of stock/appreciated asset, or through a donor-advised fund. Please contact Matt Skinner ([email protected], 404-815-7711) for more information about how to make your pledge or gift.

Can we spread our pledge over more than one year?
Gifts can be paid in full upon pledging or over multiple years on a schedule that is convenient for you. We ask that all pledges be paid by June 30, 2023.

Is this gift still tax-deductible?
Yes, gifts to Heritage Preparatory School are tax-deductible as provided by law. Please consult your financial advisor or attorney to determine what option best accomplishes your charitable intentions.

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose”.

The education of your child is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. Thank you for your interest in Heritage. We look forward to meeting you.
